To visit the Gorges du Loup [edit] From the A8 autoroute. From Aix-en-Provence (eastbound) Either exit 42(Cannes-centre). Turn left towards Grasse, then take the D3 to Valbonne and on to Châteauneuf-de-Grasse, then head for Le Bar-sur-Loup and Pont-du-Loup. To enter the Gorges turn left on the D6 just after the village of Pont-du-Loup.

Le Pont du Loup fut une station touristique très prisée par la haute société à la "Belle Epoque". La reine Victoria y venait régulièrement par train grâce à la ligne des Chemins de Fer de Provence. Les arches grandioses du viaduc enjambant le Loup, dont on voit encore les ruines, furent dynamitées en 1944, causant la fermeture de la ligne.

The Pont du Loup used to be a fashionable country resort at the end of the 19th century.Queen Victoria used to come regularly by train thanks to the Provence Railways line. The impressive arches spanning the river were blown up by the German troops in 1944. The ruins of the railway can still be seen.

The Auberge The building of the Auberge des Gorges du Loup was built between 1912 and 1919, it was then a villa. On November 9, 1919 it was transformed into a hotel-restaurant called "Le Pavillon des Touristes" and it is only in 1944 that it is renamed "l'Auberge des Gorges du Loup" (see the article of the blog for a little history).
